DAY 1     WE’RE OFF!
We’re off to visit our friendly neighbors to the north in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where we tour the world at Folklorama!  This famous “Festival of Nations” and the excitement of Assiniboia  Downs horse races provide a “Festival of Fun” during our stay in Winnipeg!  We board our deluxe air-conditioned motorcoach this morning and travel north, on this fully escorted tour.  Our luncheon stop is in Thief River Falls, and before long we clear customs at the Canadian border.  This evening we arrive at our hotel, where you are pre-registered and handed your room key—your escort has handled these details for you!  An exciting evening awaits us at Assiniboia Downs—we have a full view of the horses rounding the track, as we watch from our air-conditioned clubhouse.
DAY 2     AROUND THE WORLD
Today begins with a delicious brunch loaded with scrumptious foods—included in your tour package!  After brunch, we enjoy a guided tour of the city.  We view Manitoba’s Legislative Building and Financial District, St. Boniface Basilica, and the grand Victorian mansions along Wellington Crescent.  This afternoon we enjoy the attractions and beauty of Assiniboia Park filled with flowers, birds and animals.  Discover the English gardens, conservatory and zoo.  Tonight you “experience” the internationally acclaimed FOLKLORAMA—Canada’s #1 festival!  A passport, included in your package, gives you the opportunity to discover over 40 cultures represented.  Enjoy music ranging from polkas  to Mexican hat dancing and a delicious array of foods from the four corners of the world.  Also included in the package is an evening tour of three countries; the first pavilion provides a tasty international dinner with beverage, the second treats you to a tempting dessert, and at the third stop you’ll enjoy a snack plate & beverage—all stops with entertainment and cultural displays unique to each country.  This “Festival of Nations” will be a celebration you will not soon forget!
DAY 3     HISTORY & FURS
This morning we visit Lower Fort Garry, just north of Winnipeg.  Restored and furnished in the 1800’s fashion, we tour the big house, the fur loft, warehouse, engineer’s cottage, and the blacksmith’s shop.  If you can distract one of the “fur traders” from preparing his furs for shipping, he might describe some of his northwoods adventures!  This afternoon you have the option of enjoying the shops of Winnipeg, or visiting the Museum of Man and Nature and the Manitoba Planetarium with your escort.  The Museum focuses on man and his environment, while the Planetarium explores the galaxies of the universe.  If the ethnic music and food thrilled you last night, you will want to join your escort this evening for another taste of Folklorama. It’s all included in your tour package!!
DAY 4     MAGIC OF MONEY
Up and at ‘em—today is our last day in Winnipeg!  This morning we will visit the Royal Canadian Mint, where coins for Canada and other countries are produced.  It is designed to allow the visiting public to view the “magic” of money-making, and includes a landscaped interior courtyard, a glass tower, and a horseshoe shaped tour route.  As we begin our journey home, there is time to visit with our new friends and to enjoy lunch along the way before arriving home.  Winnipeg is truly an exciting place to visit and our “Festival of Nations” is something we will always cherish!
